Late C19th Sculpture Marble Alabaster Bust of Lady
A wonderful late 19th Century (1880-1900) bust of a lady, probably French or Italian in manufacture, wearing a laurel wreath. In the Renaissance Revival style it is very well-carved, made of marble and alabaster and stands upon an alabaster plinth. The subject is very pretty and this is shown in the detail to her face and hair, and the variation to the colour of the alabaster over her shoulder and down the back helps accentuate the folds of her dress so well. Offered in good condition, commensurate with age, there is a slight bit of colouring to the marble, albeit that could be in the stone itself, and the plinth is loose but could be re-attached if required. It sits very happily as is and the balance isn't affected. It measures 26cm tall and 25.5cm wide with the base adding 2cm to the height. The price includes UK postage.
