Birmingham School George Hunt Arts & Crafts Brooch
A wonderful and rare signed George Hunt silver and blister pearl brooch, dating to circa 1920. He born in Dudley in the Black Country in 1892, trained under Arthur Gaskin at the School of Jewellery and Silversmithing in Birmingham where he won scholarships and national awards. He worked from home in Harborne from then on, exhibiting at the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society. This brooch is beautifully made, the deeply hammered body is set with a large blister pearl. Signed with his GH shield mark verso it is in good condition, commensurate with age, and measures 47mm long 31mm wide, and 8.5mm high, weighing 14.2g. It will be sent in a custom Levels Antiques jewellery box.
