Arts Crafts Carved Giltwood Painted Bowl Armitage
A stunning Arts & Crafts carved and gilt wood bowl, dating to the early 20th Century, the exterior carved with a band of fruit and leaves, the gessoed interior with 8 alternating raised vignettes in shield and circular form decorated with flowers. There is an incised monogram to the base that I think may possibly be Joseph Armitage (1880-1945), who was a Scottish Artist Sculptor. The bowl is offered in good condition, commensurate with age, albeit the base of the interior has been re-gessoed as there was wear. It measures 24cm diameter and 8.5cm tall. The price includes insured delivery within the UK.
