Arts & Crafts Carved Oak Casket
A lovely Arts & Crafts oak and burr oak casket, dating to the 1940's, carved with cornucopia, flower heads and shell handles and standing on bold paw feet. Stamped with the number 1941 to the base, which may well be the date of manufacture, I purchased this from another dealer who had bought it from a clearance in Herefordshire and he believed it to be by a local woodworker there who had also made presentation caskets. Offered in good condition, commensurate with age, there is a very slight warp to the lid ( a couple of millimetres at best) from side to side and one wear hole in the baize on the lift out tray, but overall very good. The top measures 36cm by 16cm, with the max at the feet 37cm by 17cm, with an overall height of 17.5cm. The price includes UK insured postage.
