Art Deco Polished Steel Wall Mirror
A stunning French Art Deco polished steel wall mirror, with heavily hammered decoration that catches the light beautifully, and loop hangers to the top hung from the original coppered brass sheathed cotton rope. The bevel mirror plate is a replacement as the original was badly scratched but I have saved the French glaziers label which was dated 28th March 1928. I have added a strong picture cord to the back of the mirror body to suspend it from, so the rope suspension does not bear the weight of the mirror. I didn't quite have the height available to suspend the rope properly in my studio so the two steel suspension loops are flat in the photo, but in situ would be at a more pleasing angle. It has been professionally re-polished and now coated with a specialist wax so should keep its colour. Overall the mirror measures 101cm wide and 56.5cm high, with the mirror plate 94cm wide and 50cm high. It is offered in good condition, commensurate with age, having been re-polished. The brass wire rope shows some signs of wear but is original and could easily be replaced if required.
